About the event
Welcome back Dr. Steve Peters! We were honored to host Horse Brain Science in 2023 in NY for the first time. This year we host Level 1 and Level 2.
Level 1 is the approachable science-based introduction to how equines perceive their world. From the structure of the nervous system to the chemistry of how they learn Friday and Saturday are packed with information. Level 1 features a horse brain dissection where participants see up close the organ that makes our equine partners so unique. The basis of the presentation is from Evidence-Based Horsemanship. It is recommended that participants read the material before the clinic, however books will be available for purchase on-site.
Level 2 (requires Level 1 completion) furthers the understanding of how the brain can be shaped by experiences and how those experiences can have positive and negative consequences for training and behavior in equines. Based on the latest research and Horse Brain Science: The Neuroscience of Ethical Horsemanship, this presentation provides keystone concepts for improving all aspects of our horses lives from how they live to how they train and interact with us. Each day Sunday and Monday, provides 3 opportunities for horse and human combinations to work with Colleen Price, Melissa Ellis and Dr. Peters to narrate in real time the impact of the work on the horse and why they respond the way they are to the training session. It is recommended that participants read the material before the clinic, however books will be available for purchase on-site.
Lunch is served on site. Stabling is available for participant horses in Level 2. Valid Coggins and rabies within 6 months required.
